- What, in your view, is Science? What makes science (or a scientific discipline such as chemistry, physics, biology, etc.) different form other disciplines of inquiry (e.g., religion, philosophy)?

In my view Science is the art of studying the world around you and experimenting to prove certain theories. What makes science such as chemistry, etc., different from religon, etc., is the ability to prove what your saying. Religon is strictly based on history, books and opionions.. you have no proof except the stories and history "facts" etc. passed down from generation to generation. Science is different, it CAN be proven through multiple experiments. If no one believes you, they are most likely to believe it when its proven and seen multiple times.

Science, in my opinion, is a way of understanding the many different aspects of the world. It flabbergasts me at the many things you can learn in science. Science can vary from tectonic plates in the Earth's crust to humans sperm cells in the body. Biology, Chemistry, and Physical Science are all classes that explain a certain part of science. If we didn't learn and understand science it would be difficult to understand anything about life and the functions of the world.

Science is a human effort to understand the natural world and how it works with observations and experiments. Science deals with the studies of nature, it’s forces, and processes in development. It is based on analyzing evidence and it assumes that the process of events happens from natural causes and not through faith. Religion deals with the matters of faith and it is transmitted from generation to generation, recorded in sacred text, or revealed through prayer. The main function of religion is to teach moral principles and behavior towards other people. That is the difference between religion and science, even though there are people that think there is no difference.

Science is a subject of ideas and laws in efforts to prove life, creation, and the mechanics of how things work. In contrast to religions that rely on the basis of faith science depends on facts and experiments to prove points. As many religions depend on holy books for knowledge science depends on experiements of fellow classmates or employees.

You explained what science was but you did not touch on religion or big bang or any such thing. Science is not only to understand it is also to develop Your comment is also convoluted.

To ashley, sarah b, and sarah, I am very flabberghasted at the comment you posted. I would rather not relate science to religion. Darwinism is one of the numerous religions that is discussed in science class. In my opinion darwins theory of monkey evolution causes a condundrum in society. Monkeys might have been around many years ago but I believe humans did not evolve from them. I hope your perplexity has now been changed. I'm sorry your were puzzled and bewildered by my answer to the question.

I am flabbergasted with Will Douglas Sands thoughts about science, they are the exact same words i was thinking of to say about science. If scientific experiences were never done in the world there would be many deaths, because of the many different types of medicines that have been experimented on and proven to work. Science (like Will said) can go from body parts and DNA to volcanic acids across the world. Douglas tottaly hit the ball out of the ball park with his thoughts on science. Good job Doug, and Asheigh what are you confused by, Wills comments were great!

Ashleigh Phillips, my full name is William Douglas Sands. Therefore, I shortened my middle name to dougie. And ofcourse, I always look fresh so I put the two words together.
